FIRE IN MY HOUSE (And SOPA too)

My PSU burned down this friday, went down if flames and sparks! Total shock for me, sitting right next to it! Just got a replacement today, luckily nothing else was damaged and I'm ready for some blogging!
Anyway, now that I'm back, I think its time to talk about SOPA.
Long story short, this bill will give the film/music/gaming industries companies the power to take down any website containing their copyrighted products, or even a hint of them. They will also have the power to sue the webhosts of such material (like YouTube of Facebook if you post a picture of yourself playing a game). That means that they could even take down my blog for posting links to trailers on YouTube or just talking about the games.
While there should be laws against piracy online, this is just too harsh in my opinion and should never pass.
What are your thoughts?

  1. Ouch! Sorry for the PSU!

And this SOPA thing is absolute bullshit. Mark my words, sales will go down in all areas effected.

  3. That's why I have DeSopa on firefox :D
As for not being able to even HINT to games, I feel the same way. There's only so far you can go, and this is WAY over the line.

  4. Sopa must die in a fire, not your PSU!

    Welcome back though!

  5. I think SOPA is actually going to reduce sales. Microsoft is happy if you use fake Windows copy - as long as youre doing it home. Thus you get used to it, know ONLY their products, and thus request it at your workplace. And there, things get much more expensive :)
Apply same logic elsewhere - many would not buy an Artist's cd, before they heard him and got to like him

  6. A terrible idea proposed by idiotic senators who even professed to not knowing what they are talking about.

  12. Does the government not see how much everyone in the world hates SOPA and PIPA? This is just complete nonsense, censoring the internet? Megaupload got shutdown today and a few guys that worked for them got arrested. This whole thing should have never been thought of, but now it just needs to be put to death and forgotten about, though I'm sure that won't happen....
